System of the Month April: Call of Cthulhu

Excited for thrills and cosmic horror? Then join GM Cenk in April as we delve into the world of Call of Cthulhu, a pen-and-paper role-playing game full of eerie mysteries and unfathomable terrors.

CoC – perfect for D&D veterans and tabletop novices:

D&D veterans: Explore a new genre with unique mechanics and a focus on horror and atmosphere.

Tabletop novices: The Cthulhu rulebook is easy to learn while offering depth. You’ll get a gentle introduction to the genre, and you don’t need to bring anything – dice and characters will be provided 😊.

Unleash your inner detectives:

Step into the roles of investigators, scholars, or adventurers and uncover the dark secrets in the sleepy towns of America.

Decipher cryptic clues, confront unimaginable monsters, and battle the madness threatening to consume you.

Unique gameplay experience:

The system focuses on the horror and fear of the players. Here, you’re not heroes, but at best survivors!

Your characters aren’t invincible heroes but normal people fighting against madness. Fights are quickly over and usually last only one to three rounds.

You’ll venture into America in the year 1920 and fight for survival against the supernatural. Your decisions have clear consequences and can quickly lead to your downfall!

System of the Month March: W10+ System

Spring awakening… But not only does the vegetation awaken from hibernation and the migratory birds return, no, the Rûhkka also swarm out, far more numerous than in previous years. Are they really not a threat?

The home-made ruleset W10+ System is less suited to a strategic-tactical and more to a cinematic-narrative style of play. A selection of pre-made characters, scaled down for a convention or one-shot, are available to give you a taste of my own personal take on a role-playing game and a taste of my world of Ahbaron.

Interested? Then register now via info@kul-verein.ch. Registration is possible until 13.03.2024 – after that the game will be published on Meetup.

System of the Month February: Knave 2e

In February, we enter the domain of the Old School Renaissance, or OSR for short. A game style that is based on the early days of Dungeons and Dragons. We’re playing Knave 2e, a very lean rules system that gives GMs and players maximum freedom in how to approach and resolve situations in the game.

The adventure “The Waking of Willowby Hall” by Knave creator Ben Milton offers us an awakening manor, the church bell-wielding and very angry giant Bonebreaker Tom and the goose Mildred, who supposedly lays golden eggs.

The characters will be rolled up together at the beginning. The game can be played in English or German and can accommodate up to 5 players.

I’m in!

System of the Month January: Alice is missing

Alice is Missing is a silent role-playing game about the disappearance of Alice Briarwood, a high school junior in the small town of Silent Falls. Players, instead of speaking, send text messages back and forth to the other players in a group chat, as well as individually, as though they aren’t in the same place together. Hauntingly beautiful, Alice is Missing puts a strong focus on the emotional engagement between players, immersing them in a tense, dramatic mystery that unfolds organically through the text messages they send to one another.

As in December GM Max offers us four opportunities to try this special game! The game will be held in english and players need to bring a fully charged smartphone.

System of the Month December: Ten Candles

Ten Candles is a “tragic horror” game rather than survival horror for one main reason: in Ten Candles there are no survivors. In the final scene of the game, all of the characters will die. In this, Ten Candles is not a game about “winning” or beating the monsters. It is a game about being pushed to the brink of madness and despair, searching for hope in a hopeless world, and trying to do something meaningful with your final few hours left.

There will be 4 different opportunities for you to try this purely improvisational and very rules light game with GM Max!

The games will happen on the
4.12., 11.12., 18.12. & 27.12. at 6pm
