Happy holidays and a happy new year!

Dear members, dear role-players!

December is almost over and it’s time for another year in review. It was a year of some ups and supposed downs, a year full of exciting adventures, fantastic encounters and unforgettable moments at the table – be it epic battles, shady intrigues or creative manoeuvres by our heroes that drove the GMs to the brink of despair.

The past year was a year of growth. Our room was booked more than twice as often as in the previous year (160 bookings), we held 57 KuL events and public games and offered several other activities (such as the «Master’s Talk» or «From Player to GM»). We have now grown to 40 members who support our association and share in our association’s philosophy and purpose. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your enthusiasm, your help and, of course, your membership. A huge thank you!

So, the new year is almost upon us. We hope you can enjoy the festive season to the fullest, whether it’s with the people you care about or with strangers* in a cosy, exciting and/or nerve-wracking role-playing session to round off the month. May the year ahead be just as exciting for you – with even more fantastic adventures, creative ideas and a consistently good roll for initiative.

We look forward to giving you a detailed review and outlook of what the board is up to at the general meeting in January 2025: the new location, for example – but also the successor to our Arcanor campaign. If you want to find out more now and don’t want to wait until 16 January 2025, take a look at the association’s annual report linked below.

Happy holidays and a wonderful new year.

KuL-News November ’24

As you may have heard, we have to leave our premises on Laupenstrasse at the end of January. But GOOD NEWS EVERYONE! We’ve already found new ones! And yesterday’s Höck decided that we will sign the rental contract. Here are some facts:

  • 2 playable rooms, probably expandable to 3 rooms
  • On Güterstrasse 48, 3008 Bern – reachable in 10min from Welle by bus
  • Inexpensive
  • Plenty of storage space with a reduit and back room
  • You can check out the layout here (the black wall doesn’t exist yet)

I’m really excited to see how the new rooms will turn out. But one thing is for sure: they will be KUL!

More in the minutes (german):

Halloween-Party!
New wall decoration for the last few months!

Despite of everything, we continue with:

Events!

  • Pathfinder Society, in German, 13.11.
The Pathfinder Society meets again in November and December in KuL’s vaults. Go on a journey of discovery with Alain!
Registration via Meetup as soon as possible.
  • System of the Month November: Draw Steel!, in englisch, 21.11.
Time to DRAW STEEL! Under the keywords Tactial, Heroic, Cinematic and Fantasy, MCDM promise to reduce the drudgery of traditional RPGs and offer fast, exciting battles with tactical depth. And we will check if they keep their promise!
  • Unfortunately already full, sorry 🙂
  • System of the Month December: Adventures in Ankh-Morpork, in german 10.12. (already filled) & 19.12. (slots available)
The rules are very simple and focus heavily on role-playing. There is little fighting (and only with normal skill tests – there is no weapon damage or similar) and the focus is entirely on immersing yourself in the bizarre world of Terry Pratchett – but you don’t have to know it to have fun!
Registration via form in the post.

A Time of Opportunity

I’m very sad to announce that our landlord PSP cancelled our (CDC & KuL) contract because they need the rooms themselves. This means we will have to move to new premises in the beginning of February and the KuL room can no longer be used for games from the end of January 🙁

We are now working flat out to find new suitable premises! We would be extremely grateful for any tips and information!

May the next room(s) be much KuLer!

Tim

Halloween Party

KuL & CDC invite you to a spooktacular Halloween Party on SA, 26.10.2024, starting at 4PM.
There will be music, games, a pub quiz, and a buffet with food and drinks – all Halloween-themed of course!

Eine Einladung Zur Halloweenparty von KuL & CDC

Costumes

Costumes are very welcome, but not a must. To give you a little incentive: The best costume wins a prize!
We will have a small make-up corner and some accessories on site for anyone who wants a spontaneous make-over!
🧟🧌🧛🧙‍♂️💀👻👹🤡🎃

Food & Drinks

We would love a contribution to the buffet, especially if it fits the Halloween theme! Doesn’t matter whether it’s savoury or sweet – as long as it’s finger food (no cutlery on site available)!

If you would like to bring something, please let us know when you register.

Registration

All members and fellow players of KuL & CDC are invited, including their loved ones. In order for us to estimate how many people are coming, we would like to ask you to register (see form below).
Of course you can also check in spontaneously!

If you have any questions, suggestions or ideas, please get in touch with Patricia.

No Fields Found.

Games & Pubquiz

There will also be some games and a pub quiz – with a prize for the winning team!
If you have games that fit the theme and want to bring them along, please get in touch with Patricia!
Can be a card game, group activity, trivia game, etc.…

Horror-RPG

If you want to get in the right mood for our little Halloween-Extravaganza, you can do so on Friday, 25.10.24 with a horror RPG at the CDC:

  • Game Master: Al
  • System: Liminal Horror: Investigators (e3)
  • Scenario: The Chair
  • Spieler: max 6
  • Language: English
  • Time: FR, 18:00-23:00
  • Registration: Direct Message via discord to your GM Al (Rogue-AL on discord)

Tales from the Void: The Chair
“Rumor has it that there is a decrepit house deep in the woods to which no roads lead. They say that there is an antique but possessed chair, luring curious souls into the house and seducing them to sit upon it. However, once you step through the doors, you will be trapped forever. You are investigators who seek to find out the truth behind the rumor. Can you uncover the secrets hidden within and escape the house? Or will you become part of its furniture and be trapped there for eternity?”

Liminal Horror: Investigators (3e) is a modern horror TTRPG that uses a rules-light system and is based on the same one found in Into the Odd,Cairn, or Maze Rats, but modified for a horror setting. In this one-shot, players will take on the role of curious investigators who come upon the rumored house in the woods.

The Chair is a scenario from the Tales from the Void anthology, written and designed by Zach Hazard Vaupen. Some slight changes to the scenario can be expected which draw their inspiration from movies such as Hausu (1977), Cube (1997), Thirteen Ghosts (2001), Saw II (2005), Pan’s Labyrinth (2006), and Crimson Peak (2015).

About the “Liminal” in Liminal Horror. To avoid some confusion, the title does not refer to the concept of liminal spaces or the famed “Backrooms” per se. It is connected to the idea of liminal (transitional) states such as characters/investigators going through changes as they face horrors.

Not suitable for minors.
The One-Shot will be held in English and is intended for beginner and experienced RPG players.

You are teenagers in the small, 80’s inspired town Arcadia. Equipped with nothing but your wits, gadgets and bikes of course, you’ll have to be creative to solve a mystery that has been plaguing your neighbourhood. But don’t worry though, you wont have to do it alone.
All seats are already filled. Sorry 🙂
  • Pathfinder Society, in German, 25.9.
After the summer break, the Pathfinder Society will meet again in September in the vaults of the Verein. On 25 September 2024 at 17:30 until approx. 23:00 we scouts will go on another adventure. It is the adventure 5-10: The Crocodile’s Smile.
Registration via Meetup as soon as it’s up.

There are no survivors in Ten Candles! In the final game scene of this tragic horror game, all the characters will die. In this sense, Ten Candles is not a game about winning or defeating the monsters. Instead, the characters are pushed to the brink of madness and despair as they search for hope in a hopeless world and try to do something meaningful in the final hours.
Sign up via form in the Post. 10th und 29th are reserved for KuLists.
