System of the Month March: W10+

We are in the Regency era in our good old world, in England, but not quite as we know it from the history books or from Jane Austen.

On a balmy late fall day, just before the good society is about to leave their country estates to spend the ball season in London, the Marchioness of Ripon, Phyllis Barrington, has invited everyone of distinction in the region to an enjoyable evening of music.

But the evening turns out differently than expected, the players are faced with a variety of challenges and everything is demanded of them.

Will the characters manage to survive the evening without losing their reputation, their sanity or even their lives?

And achieve at least one of several goals in the process?

We shall see! In any case, I’m looking forward to seeing YOU. Mesdames, Messieurs, yours sincerely, your host Andrea (he/him).

The session will be played in German

Trigger warning – The game will be played without a net and safety line. Retreat is offered if it gets too much for someone.

System: W10+ goes Ghastly Liaisons or Bridgerton meets de Sade and Bram Stoker. A system developed over 40 years, without levels but skill-based, in which relationships are everything.

Date: 22.03.2025 – Time: 14:00 to 17:00

System of the Month February: Vaesen

In dark forests, beyond the mountains, by black lakes in hidden groves. At your doorstep. In the shadows, something stirs. Strange beings. Twisted creatures, lurking at the edge of vision. Watching. Waiting. Unseen by most, but not by you. You see them for what they really are. Vaesen.

Welcome to the Mythic North – northern Europe of the nineteenth century, but not as we know it today. A land where the myths are real. A cold reach covered by vast forests, its few cities lonely beacons of industry and enlightenment – a new civilization dawning. But in the countryside, the old ways still hold sway. There, people know what lurks in the dark. They know to fear it.

Vaesen – A Chilling Horror Role-Playing Game with a Detective Twist in the Mythic North by Nils Hintze. Vaesen offers a dark and eerie setting steeped in Nordic folklore and the ancient myths of Scandinavia. The game mechanics use a customized version of the Year Zero Engine.

Trigger Warning – This role-playing game may include the following themes: murder, cruelty towards animals and humans of all ages, death, loss, mental suffering, occultism, and religious conflicts. As the setting takes place in the 19th century, social norms are also different, which involves topics such as discrimination, social inequality, exclusion, and prejudice. Child death will come up in ‘The Devil on the Moor’.

1st Adventure: The Dance of Dreams
A letter reaches the members of te newly reformed Society at castle Gyllencreutz. It contains a advertisement and a note. It advertises a shadow play, ‘The Dance of Dreams’, performed at the Witch Cat inn. The note asks the Society to meet with a K. Olaus there.

2nd Adventure: The Devil on the Moor
Grimsted Lyng is a largely untouched moor between Denmark and Germany. Only a few farmers inhabit the area. The Danish Society for Moorland Reclamation wants to restore fertility to the barren moors through artificial fertilizer, tree planting, and drainage canals. But strange things start to happen and the Society is asked for help.

Goodbye Laupenstrasse!

It will soon be over, the time when our association had its home in Laupenstrasse. And even though we have every reason to look forward to the new location and all the great stories we will experience in Güterstrasse, we want to raise our glasses to Laupenstrasse once again!

We’re saying goodbye to Laupenstrasse with one last social event. This is a ‘Bring your own Beer’ event so that we don’t have to do a lot of shopping and move any drinks and food that haven’t been consumed.

We will meet on Thursday, 23 January 2025 from 18:00 – approx. 20:00 on Laupenstrasse for a cosy get-together and a chat. And maybe there will be one or two first-hand progress reports from the construction site!

System of the Month January: Brindlewood Bay

Put away your knitting and close up the gardening shed, because the sheriff of Brindlewood Bay has just approached you with news of another mysterious death in Brindlewood Bay! And who better to solve this week’s mystery than you, dear Murder Maven, and your fellow krimi bookclub members? Investigate and meddle to your hearts’ content, but be wary of the dark and the secrets it holds.

Brindlewood Bay is a PBtA cozy crime drama inspired by TV shows such as Murder, She Wrote, with cosmic horror undertones. Play is both narrative and collaborative. The solution to the mystery is not set in advance, but discovered together through clue gathering and the success (or failure) of your theories!

The event is fully booked.

The planet whose shell is breaking

The second Wednesday in December will be a little different to what Pathfinder Society members are used to. To round off 2024, GM Jarekk82 would like to take you on an adventure in space. The playtest for the new edition of ‘Starfinder’, which transfers the familiar rules of ‘Pathfinder 2E’ into the future, will run until summer 2025.

So this time it’s time for the Starfinder Society to meet in the vaults of the association. On 11 December 2024 at 17:30 until around 22:30, we Star Scouts will be going on an adventure. The adventure is Playtest-01: Shards of the Glass Planet and will be played in Swiss German (or in standard German if this works better for individual participants).

For millennia, Birnam’s Bubble has been a planet untouched by outsiders, fully encapsulated in an impenetrable shield of unknown energy and protected by powerful automated defenses. Through this barrier, explorers and surveyors have glimpsed pristine settlements, verdant flora, and inexplicable magical emanations—yet no fauna or citizens populate the world’s surface.

As in many other parts of the galaxy, the Drift Crisis changed everything. Now, the energy barrier surrounding Birnam’s Bubble cracks like shattering glass, and shards of this solidified energy have begun to fall through the atmosphere to the planet’s surface, causing significant destruction. Enter the breach and uncover the secrets of the lost civilizations of Birnam’s Bubble before they’re lost forever!

The adventure is played with pre-made characters (pre-gens). It is also open to new players who do not yet have any role-playing experience and/or are not yet familiar with the Pathfinder system in its 2nd edition. (There will be an option to get boons for your Pathfinder Society account if you already play Pathfinder Society.)

You can sign up via Meetup.
Keep in mind that this adventure will be played in German.
