Master’s Talk in October

The Master’s Talk will be held in English.

If the terms “action adjudication”, “railroad” and “three-clue-rule” make you look perplexed, if you are interested in the delicate art of game mastery (see also What is Pen & Paper?) or if you have already honed it to near perfection, then the Master’s Talk is the perfect event for you!

With the Master’s Talk, we have created a vessel where game masters can exchange ideas about battlemap design, discuss questions about past game sessions, or share their experiences.

This Master’s Talk will be held on Thursday, October 5th from 6 p.m. to approximately 8:30 p.m. in the Erupt. Be there!

To make the Master’s Talk a little different from a loose meeting over a cold drink, we have come up with some topics that we would like to discuss. There will be short inputs on various topics prepared by some of the game masters to start a discussion. Because we have so many questions for our fellow game leaders and hope others have as many.

1. topic: How to start a campaign

Tim thinks about how he would start his next campaign with a fixed roster of players. What does he need? What is not needed? This topic might be interesting for newish GM’s.

2. topic: tba

Introducing the Pathfinder Society

For several months now, the KuL-room has also become the home of the Pathfinder Society. Time to properly introduce ourselves!

A globally played, living campaign

The Pathfinder Society is an official campaign by the creators of Pathfinder. New adventures are released monthly – and certain decisions made by the players even influence the upcoming adventures. Therefore, your own character is also stored online, and you receive an Organized Play ID that you bring with you to the sessions. The played adventures are recorded on a Chronicle sheet and reported back to Paizo by the Game Master via a website. This allows you to participate in official Pathfinder Society adventures with your character anywhere in the world.

So, Who Exactly Is This Society?

The Pathfinder Society is a network of adventurous heroes who want to know what lies beyond the horizon, what knowledge long-lost civilizations have left us, and what new friendships can be formed and what companions can be found in the distance.

It is not without reason that the Society’s credo is “Explore. Report. Cooperate.”! All members are encouraged to acquire new knowledge and make it accessible to other Pathfinders. Equally important is to support others, seek new allies, and never lose one’s curiosity for new adventures.

Several factions are part of the Pathfinder Society. They do not compete with each other, but each has their own ideas and priorities when it comes to implementing the goals of the Society. As a member of the Pathfinder Society, you join a faction and earn reputation with your chosen faction with each successfully completed adventure, which you can use over time for various bonuses.

For more information, visit the English website of Paizo.

One-Shot Series instead of a Campaign

The Pathfinder Society adventures are self-contained one-shots that can be played in one evening. However, a common thread runs through different adventures, so that within a season lasting a year, a cohesive story can be experienced.

Since life away from the role-playing table often disrupts scheduling, it’s not a problem if you miss one adventure or another. You can join in at any time and rejoin after missed game sessions.

Getting Involved

Currently, the Pathfinder Society meets once a month – specifically on the second Wednesday of the month. You can find more information in the Tyton calendar.

For Newcomers: The Fall of Silverpine Watch

The game can be held in english or german. GM will be Tim.

You are members of a mercenary troop escorting the gnome merchant Oona Tealeaf through the rugged hills of Aesternia, a fantasy land à la Tolkien. Along the way, you not only overcome the dangers of the wilderness but also need to pass through the fortress known as Silverpine Watch.

Will you unveil the mystery of the seemingly abandoned castle…?

What do I need to know?

This is the second run of my favorite adventure, but this time we’re playing Worlds Without Number, a wonderful alternative to D&D. It’s a bit more dangerous than D&D 5e and draws inspiration from the Old School Renaissance.

You will assume the roles of 3-5 characters that you’ll embody during the game. We’ll distribute the characters together on the day of the game.

There is a free version of WWN!

This adventure accommodates 3-5 players and will take place on Monday, August 28th, at 6:00 PM. The session will last approximately 4 hours.

System of the Month Savage Worlds

One system, a thousand worlds – Savage Worlds is a simple, universal RPG-system that can be applied to any setting imaginable.

This entry-level adventure is set in modern times and takes the characters on a spooky journey through rural Wisconsin, USA. Get ready for a thrilling horror story where the characters have to fight for their lives!

What do I need to know?

We’ll be playing with pre-generated characters and the simplified Savage Worlds Test Drive rules, so we can dive right into the adventure without much preparation. You don’t need to know the rules in advance, we will go over them together before the game starts.

All you need to play are dice (D4-D12, you can also borrow them from us) and something to write with.

If you want to familiarize yourself with the system in advance, you can download the PDF here:

Here is an overview of the characters. We will assign them together:

The game is free for all participants.

When do we play?

The adventure is planned as a one shot, so it should be finished in one sitting. However, it is always possible that it will take a little longer than expected and we will have to split it over two game days. We will discuss the second date then if needed.

  • Thursday, 20 June 23 from 6pm

I am looking forward to seeing you,

Master’s Talk in July

The Master’s Talk will be held in English.

If the terms “action adjudication”, “railroad” and “three-clue-rule” make you look perplexed, if you are interested in the delicate art of game mastery (see also What is Pen & Paper?) or if you have already honed it to near perfection, then the Master’s Talk is the perfect event for you!

With the Master’s Talk, we have created a vessel where game masters can exchange ideas about battlemap design, discuss questions about past game sessions, or share their experiences.

The second Master’s Talk will be held on Thursday, July 13 from 6 p.m. to approximately 8:30 p.m. in the KuL-Room. Be there!

To make the Master’s Talk a little different from a loose meeting over a cold drink, we have come up with some topics that we would like to discuss. There will be short inputs on various topics prepared by some of the KuL game masters to start a discussion. Because we have so many questions for our fellow game leaders and hope others have as many.

1. topic: Music

What possibilities are there to use music in role-playing and how do you influence the mood with it? What works best and how does it work technically? Listen to Mario‘s thoughts and join the discussion!

2. topic: RPG Systems

Discuss the history of RPG systems with a focus on OSR (Old School Renaissance) and new old systems with Daniele. What are your favorites and what are you looking for in these systems?

We look forward to the Master’s Talk and are eager to hear how other game masters approach this exciting and fulfilling role.
