Unfettered exploration

Welcome to the 5th season of Pathfinder Society! In the new year we begin the next chapter and start with an intro game. We will meet on 10 January 2024 at 17:30 until about 23:00 in the (also new) chambers of our association. It will be the adventure 5-01: Year of the Unfettered Exploration: Intro and will be played in Swiss German (or in standard German if this works better for individual players).

It’s time to explore! With the Society coming off of their recent victory in finally defeating an old enemy, they choose to turn to refocus on the goals of the Pathfinder Society: Explore! Report! Cooperate!

As a celebration for such a successful year, there’s a party being hosted with all sorts of friends both new and old in attendance. However, when one of Fola Barun’s dear friends needs to be entertained in order to prepare a surprise, it’s up to the Pathfinders to show him around the famous Maze of the Open Road. When he starts to encourage exploration, new doors appear and new adventures await!

The adventure is suitable for characters of levels 1-4. It is also open to new players who do not yet have any role-playing experience and/or are not yet familiar with the Pathfinder system in its 2nd edition.

System of the Month January: Alice is missing

Alice is Missing is a silent role-playing game about the disappearance of Alice Briarwood, a high school junior in the small town of Silent Falls. Players, instead of speaking, send text messages back and forth to the other players in a group chat, as well as individually, as though they aren’t in the same place together. Hauntingly beautiful, Alice is Missing puts a strong focus on the emotional engagement between players, immersing them in a tense, dramatic mystery that unfolds organically through the text messages they send to one another.

As in December GM Max offers us four opportunities to try this special game! The game will be held in english and players need to bring a fully charged smartphone.

Master’s Talk December

The Master’s Talk will be held in English.

If the terms “action adjudication”, “railroad” and “three-clue-rule” make you look perplexed, if you are interested in the delicate art of game mastery (see also What is Pen & Paper?) or if you have already honed it to near perfection, then the Master’s Talk is the perfect event for you!

With the Master’s Talk, we have created a vessel where game masters can exchange ideas about battlemap design, discuss questions about past game sessions, or share their experiences.

This Master’s Talk will be held on Wednesday, December 13th from 6 p.m. to approximately 8:30 p.m. in the Erupt Lounge. Be there!

To make the Master’s Talk a little different from a loose meeting over a cold drink, we have come up with some topics that we would like to discuss. There will be short inputs on various topics prepared by some of the game masters to start a discussion. Because we have so many questions for our fellow game leaders and hope others have as many.

1. & 2. topic: tba

This time it will probably be a bit more open and we will discuss topics you bring along or choose something from the list below. If you would like to present something, you are welcome to contact us at info@kul-verein.ch or on Discord.

  • Music
  • RPG-Systems
  • Overland Travel
  • How to Horror – Päscu
  • Traps
  • Rätsel
  • How to start a campaign
  • Notizen – wie macht man sie richtig
  • Session recaps
  • Action economy
  • Battlemaps
  • Safetytools
  • Onepagedungeons
  • Improvisation
  • Wie geht man mit Charaktertod um

We look forward to the Master’s Talk and are eager to hear how other game masters approach this exciting and fulfilling role.

Have a comment, question, or suggestion for future topics, let us know in the comments or via info@kul-verein.ch! Registration is not required.

System of the Month December: Ten Candles

Ten Candles is a “tragic horror” game rather than survival horror for one main reason: in Ten Candles there are no survivors. In the final scene of the game, all of the characters will die. In this, Ten Candles is not a game about “winning” or beating the monsters. It is a game about being pushed to the brink of madness and despair, searching for hope in a hopeless world, and trying to do something meaningful with your final few hours left.

There will be 4 different opportunities for you to try this purely improvisational and very rules light game with GM Max!

The games will happen on the
4.12., 11.12., 18.12. & 27.12. at 6pm

Down the middle

On Wednesday, 8 November 2023, the Pathfinder Society will meet from 17:30 – approx. 23:00 in the Society’s chambers. Now that the Pathfinders have been given permission to enter the interior of Arcadia, the task is to have a powerful artefact repaired so that it can be returned to its original owners. This is Adventure 4-13: Within the Prairies.

The PCs meet with Venture-Captain Rahaksenwe in Segada, the Arcadian City of Keys, where prior negotiations between the Pathfinder Society and the Segadan government have permitted the PCs’ entry into the Arcadian interior. They must bring a legendary star gun to a mysterious, reclusive gunsmith, persuade them to repair it, then repatriate it to its original home: the prairie town, Niishan.

After acquiring supplies, the PCs depart for the gunsmith’s home, led by their Segadan guide Tsimaan Ayika. After arriving at the gunsmith’s home, they discover a standoffish individual named Whiirii. The PCs must aid Whiirii in repairing the star gun before traveling to Niishan, the star gun’s original home, all while protecting them from Aslynn’s forces (who have only the worst plans in mind).

The adventure is suitable for characters of levels 1-4. It is also open to new players who do not yet have any role-playing experience and/or are not yet familiar with the Pathfinder system in its 2nd edition.
