Master’s Talk April ’24

If the terms “action adjudication”, “railroad” and “three-clue-rule” make you look perplexed, if you are interested in the delicate art of game mastery (see also What is Pen & Paper?) or if you have already honed it to near perfection, then the Master’s Talk is the perfect event for you!

With the Master’s Talk, we have created a vessel where game masters can exchange ideas about battlemap design, discuss questions about past game sessions, or share their experiences.

This Master’s Talk will be held on Monday, March 22th from 6 p.m. to approximately 8:30 p.m. in the KuL-Room. Be there!
The Master’s Talk will be held in English.

To make the Master’s Talk a little different from a loose meeting over a cold drink, we have come up with some topics that we would like to discuss. There will be short inputs on various topics prepared by some of the game masters to start a discussion. Because we have so many questions for our fellow game leaders and hope others have as many.

1. topic: Character creation

Different characters require an equally different way of creating them. And how do you breathe life into the character afterwards? Andrea prepares the topic for us in detail and then discusses the challenges of character creation with us.

2. topic: tba

1. topic: Adversary Rosters

Does this ever happen to you? Your players pick apart your carefully planned opposition room by room, trivialising a tough enemy outpost? Or you’re faced with an opposition compound with dozens of NPCs to control, with no way to focus on anything else? If you want the simplest and most fun tool to turn your dour dungeons into lively locales, Nino has got the tool for you: Adversary Rosters!

2. topic: Improv

Not all characters can be worked out in advance – some are created spontaneously. And not every GM has attended drama school. Em shows us tips and ideas on how to breathe life into characters spontaneously.

System of the Month March: W10+ System

Spring awakening… But not only does the vegetation awaken from hibernation and the migratory birds return, no, the Rûhkka also swarm out, far more numerous than in previous years. Are they really not a threat?

The home-made ruleset W10+ System is less suited to a strategic-tactical and more to a cinematic-narrative style of play. A selection of pre-made characters, scaled down for a convention or one-shot, are available to give you a taste of my own personal take on a role-playing game and a taste of my world of Ahbaron.

Interested? Then register now via info@kul-verein.ch. Registration is possible until 13.03.2024 – after that the game will be published on Meetup.

What constitutes a raid and what alternatives are there? How do you create a raid scenario and what should you bear in mind? You can find out these and more questions with Nino.

2. topic: Character introduction

With Joel.

KuL celebrates its first anniversary

Katakomben & Lindwürmer celebrates its first anniversary! A lot has happened in the first year – a number of event series have been successfully established (Arcanor, Master’s Talk, System of the Month) or scrapped (Fight Club).

And the game room, the heart of our association, has also undergone a major transformation. From an office space without furnishings, to a number of craft projects to decorate it, to the move to the new premises of Chaos Dice Club.

To celebrate this occasion and the collaboration with CDC, we invite you to an open day on Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 3:00 pm, just a few days after our general meeting. Take a look at what the two rooms have to offer, browse through the various stations on actively played events and rulebooks and chat with us over free drinks, snacks and cake!

There will also be a pub quiz from 5:00 pm. The whole thing lasts as long as we feel like it. You don’t need to register – just come along and raise a glass with us. We look forward to seeing you and thank you for a successful first year!
