I’m curious!

You can find the quickstart rules for D&D 5e here. The chapters of the first part are not relevant for this game. The chapters of the second part deal with the rules.

KuL-News March

It’s aliiive!

13 (!) game events full of excitement and drama filled the halls of the KuL room with fantastic stories in March. Private and public events brought dozens of people together, and during the revival of our community campaign Arcanor, ten players simultaneously faced hordes of goblins sent into battle by three game masters.

Upgrades!

Many small and large improvements were added to the KuL room, such as the stylish archway and refrigerated drinks. These are further enhancing the quality of the KuLish gaming experience!

Additionally, a Discord server and Facebook page have been set up.

Short summary from the KuL-Crew-Höck

As every month, the KuL-Crew met on the last Thursday in March to plan the future of KuL and come up with new ideas.

The main topics were the financial situation (the room is close to semi-self-sustaining) and event planning (continuing as usual, aiming to attract more Arcanor players and events!).

Furthermore, a membership concept will be developed in April.

The next public KuL-Crew-Höck takes place on
Thursday , April 27th at 6 pm
Everybody is welcome to bring their mustard!

Protocoll march (in german):

For (beginner) GM’s: Master’s Talk

The Master’s Talk takes place in English.

Wether you’re a beginner Game Master, scratching your head at the terms “action adjudication,” “railroad,” and “three-clue-rule”, you don’t really have an idea what GMing is about (see What is Pen&Paper?) or you’re a seasoned GM looking to perfect the delicate art of storytelling, then the Master’s Talk is the event for you!

Get ready to delve into the intricate world of game mastering with like-minded individuals as we discuss battlemap design, debate questions from past gaming sessions, and brag about our wildest Total Party Kills (TPKs).

The first Master’s Talk is happening on Thursday, April 13th, at 6 pm until approx. 9 pm in the KuL room. Be there!

We don’t expect this to be just a casual get-together over a cold drink. We have so many questions to fellow GM’s and hope others have as many. We’ll have short inputs to different topics from some of KuL’s GameMasters to start a discussion and Mario will be moderating the conversation, keeping our wild thoughts on track. And these topics are just the beginning – who knows where the conversation will take us!

Topics for the first Master’s Talk are:

1st topic: Safety-tools at the table

A way to enjoy TTRPG is to enjoy the feelings that you can explore while playing and understanding the boundaries within yourself that you can push. As fascinating as this is, is at the same time important to be safe while doing so. Join in this discussion with Daniele about Safety Tools at the table and how to understand and respect each others’ limits without breaking immersion. He will use this tool as an example.

2nd topic: Preparing a one-page-dungeon

When you first take on the role of game master, so-called one-page dungeons can provide a wonderful foundation for preparing your first gaming session. Tim is thinking about what tools and preparations he needs to turn the Quintessential Dungeon into a (hopefully) successful adventure. And maybe even play it in the future!

A dungeon full of classic D&D tropes

3rd topic: Preparation for improvisation

In every game the GM will be forced to improvise some minor or major aspect of the adventure, the campaign or the world. Its simply impossible to prepare a fleshed out answer/situation to every possible choice the players will make. What is possible however, is to prepare tools that help making things up on the spot. So let’s talk with Rebi about tools for improvisation, what works and what does not and if prepared improvisation can reduce the workload of the GM.

We look forward to a night of getting together and I am so interested in how other GM’s approach different topics connected to this beautiful and tough craft!

If you have questions or proposals for future topics: please let us know in the comments or via info@kul-verein.ch
