Wanted: GMs for MegaBern

Mega Bern Project

17.11.2024

RPGBern (check us out on rpgbern.ch) comes with a new project and a new idea: join forces to help us realize a day of fun with the first Bern-wide rpg session!

The idea is to have on the 17th of November an adventure together that spans all locations in Bern and lasts around 6 hours, with many tables in all the main RPG related locations in Bern, and – and this is where YOU come in – many GMs!

The ambitious part of this project (apart from the size) is that we want to have one overarching story! Combining the stories you will play at your table with an overarching story, you will be able to be a part of a larger plot, and your players will impact and feel the impact of each other group’s decisions.

You can of course use parts, ideas and plot points from prewritten adventures, but the basic idea of connecting the different stories requires some customized adventures that we will prepare together before the event. More informations on the plot (no spoilers!) and how this will come to happen will be given to the GMs as soon as we have the informations of the settings everyone will run at their table.

If you think this idea intrigues you, fill the form at https://rpgbern.ch/en/megabern-gms/ by filling in some informations about your game and your email.

The registrations for the GMs will be from NOW until the 31st of May. After then you will be contacted at the email you inserted in the form. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact us at the mail megabern@rpgbern.ch.

Come join us in this macroscopic event and thank you in advance!

PS: Currently the locations we are considering are the CDC, the Drachenäscht, the Erupt Lounge, the KuL room and the Zwergenschmiede. If you are aware of another location which might be interested in participating, let us know in the form or via email!

System of the Month May: Agents of Dune

ARRAKIS IS YOURS

Your House is to provide the new government of Arrakis in an alternative “what if?” scenario, where you must ensure the supply of vital SPICE to the known universe. Can you maintain control of Arrakis while the entire Empire watches your every move? Or will this appointment spell the downfall of your house?

In this game with GM Simon, you take control of the desert world of Arrakis and with it the important resource Spice. You coordinate the activities of your noble house, conclude trade agreements, form alliances and harvest the valuable spice. It’s up to you whether you help your house gain prestige and fame or let it sink into the sands of Arrakis.

I’ll be there!

Mischief in the Maze

The Pathfinder Society will meet this April in the vaults of the association – and this time again in the usual rhythm. On 8. May 2024 at 17:30 until approx. 23:00 we agents will go on another adventure. It will be the adventure 5-12: Mischief in the Maze and will be played in Swiss German (or in standard German if this works better for individual players).

The Maze of the Open Road mostly been stabilized, and yet agents are still ending up at the wrong destination. While no one has been hurt, Venture-Captain Sigvard Tornkvist fears that it might be a matter of time until injury or worse results. She tasks the PCs with investigating the cause of these mishaps, and dealing with it if possible.

Little do the PCs know what they’ve gotten themselves into, but there’s a nonzero chance they’ll find themselves in a dance-off before their mission is complete.

The adventure is suitable for characters of levels 1-4. It is also open to new players who do not yet have any role-playing experience and/or are not yet familiar with the Pathfinder system in its 2nd edition.

You can sign up via Meetup.
Keep in mind that this adventure will be played in German.

Master’s Talk April ’24

If the terms “action adjudication”, “railroad” and “three-clue-rule” make you look perplexed, if you are interested in the delicate art of game mastery (see also What is Pen & Paper?) or if you have already honed it to near perfection, then the Master’s Talk is the perfect event for you!

With the Master’s Talk, we have created a vessel where game masters can exchange ideas about battlemap design, discuss questions about past game sessions, or share their experiences.

This Master’s Talk will be held on Monday, March 22th from 6 p.m. to approximately 8:30 p.m. in the KuL-Room. Be there!
The Master’s Talk will be held in English.

To make the Master’s Talk a little different from a loose meeting over a cold drink, we have come up with some topics that we would like to discuss. There will be short inputs on various topics prepared by some of the game masters to start a discussion. Because we have so many questions for our fellow game leaders and hope others have as many.

1. topic: Character creation

Different characters require an equally different way of creating them. And how do you breathe life into the character afterwards? Andrea prepares the topic for us in detail and then discusses the challenges of character creation with us.

2. topic: tba

Past Talks

System of the Month April: Call of Cthulhu

Excited for thrills and cosmic horror? Then join GM Cenk in April as we delve into the world of Call of Cthulhu, a pen-and-paper role-playing game full of eerie mysteries and unfathomable terrors.

CoC – perfect for D&D veterans and tabletop novices:

D&D veterans: Explore a new genre with unique mechanics and a focus on horror and atmosphere.

Tabletop novices: The Cthulhu rulebook is easy to learn while offering depth. You’ll get a gentle introduction to the genre, and you don’t need to bring anything – dice and characters will be provided 😊.

Unleash your inner detectives:

Step into the roles of investigators, scholars, or adventurers and uncover the dark secrets in the sleepy towns of America.

Decipher cryptic clues, confront unimaginable monsters, and battle the madness threatening to consume you.

Unique gameplay experience:

The system focuses on the horror and fear of the players. Here, you’re not heroes, but at best survivors!

Your characters aren’t invincible heroes but normal people fighting against madness. Fights are quickly over and usually last only one to three rounds.

You’ll venture into America in the year 1920 and fight for survival against the supernatural. Your decisions have clear consequences and can quickly lead to your downfall!
